Move to Adult Care Community:

Sometimes there are no children to help a senior with their move. In the case of Mr. B, he was living on his own for a year after his wife passed away. He fell frequently and would call 911 and eventually his niece would be contacted when it was time for him to go home. His niece recommended a move to an adult care community which he eventually agreed to.

The niece, who had a full time job and her own family contacted Home Changes with Heart to assist with the move. Home Changes with Heart worked with Mr. B to determine what furniture and personal belongings would be best suited to move into his new home. Home Changes provided the list of potential moving companies and directed the movers on move day.

On the same day Home Changes with Heart unpacked his belongings, got rid of all the empty boxes and helped Mr. B hang his pictures on the walls.

During move day Mr. B and his niece were busy meeting the other residents in his new adult community!

Dealing with the estate:

Mr. G's father passed away and he moved everything that family members did not want into his own garage. He now had piles of boxes and loose items taking up space and he wasn't sure what to do with them yet hoped they good go to good use. Mr. G contacted Home Changes with Heart to help.

Home Changes sorted and inventoried the items the items to determine what was there and then provided some options for donation.

Since there were a lot of his Dad's tools, a lot of the items were able to be given to Habitat for Humanity for their crew and their restore. Other items went to local charities that provided charitable donation letters for tax purposes.

Here's some photos of the items packed up to go for donation.

Preparing for a future move and auction for revenue:

Mrs. D contacted Home Changes with Heart because she was feeling overwhelmed with her parents home and helping her parents monitor their health situations.

After meeting with Mrs. D and her mother, Home Changes and Mrs. D put together a plan to clean up garage and basement spaces and sort belongings that there might have good resale value. A tag sale specialist and an auction house representative were invited to the home to review the items.

After the family made the decision to use the auction house, Home Changes with Heart came to the home and Carolyn Seifried and Mrs. D worked together to pack up the items and send them for auction. This is the first phase of preparing for the sale of the home and the move to assisted living.
